Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):
Graduates of the CE program will be expected to:
- Apply their knowledge and skills as effective and productive civil engineers to enable sustainable growth of the community
- Work and communicate effectively in order to develop practical, technically-sound, cost-effective solutions to civil engineering problems
- Enhance self-confidence, ability to make proper decisions, and adhere to professional ethics
- Pursue lifelong learning to keep themselves conversant with latest development in their fields of practice or study
Student Outcomes (SOs):
The graduates of Civil Engineering at JIC shall demonstrate that they are able to:
- Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics (SO1)
- Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors (SO2)
- Communicate effectively with a range of audiences (SO3)
- Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts (SO4)
- Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives (SO5)
- Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions (SO6)
- Acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies (SO7)
- Describe the knowledge needed in planning, design and construction of Civil Engineering infrastructures. (SO8)
