Organized by the Royal Commission in Jubail, Jubail Industrial College participated in the Jubail 2nd Energy Management Conference held at the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Cultural Center. JIC's participation included the presentation of EE students' project called "Smart Garden System" which is a part of their graduation requirements. The said project, which utilizes the sun as an energy source to operate the irrigation system, was designed using Fritzing software to develop a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) to improve the aesthetics and to reduce the number of electrical connections.

The Smart Garden System project was based on the design of the irrigation system normally used in home gardens, which automatically opens when needed. It consists of two main parts: the solar tracking system and the watering system that promotes reduced water consumption. Further, the main advantage of this system is its reduced maintenance, water conservation, and need-based watering of the garden.

It is worth mentioning that the students not only learned and applied their gained knowledge in renewable solar system, but this project also gave them the opportunity to gain more information in many aspects of design and programming. More so, it deepen their understanding on the many benefits of using renewable energy sources.
