The instructors are NFPA Certified Trainers, have extensive teaching experience, and taught classes for a variety of professional organizations such as the NFPA, SFPE, and the US National Fire Academy, as well as University level courses. 

William (Bill) Wheeler, P.E.

Background

Bill is a Senior Engineer with over 38 years' experience. He is responsible for providing fire protection, loss investigations, and process safety management services to industrial, commercial, and government clients, particularly in the petroleum and petrochemical industries. His career has included experience in the Highly Protected Risk industry, with Factory Mutual Engineering, in the petroleum industry, with Mobil Oil, and with various consulting firms. Mr. Wheeler is a member of the National Fire Protection Association and Society of Fire Protection Engineers.

Teaching Credentials

-Extensive experience developing and teaching courses on fundamentals of loss prevention, overview of PSM, overview of RMP, HAZOP, What-If, and other hazards analysis techniques, managing and leading PHA team studies, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.

-Led courses and process hazard analyses (PHAs) for multiple petrochemical clients worldwide, including Exxon Mobil.

Jeffrey (Jeff) Moore, P.E.

Background

Jeff is a Senior Fire Protection Engineer with over 30 years' experience in all facets of fire protection engineering. Jeff has been involved in fire protection training and education for over 30-years. He has taught fire fighting, emergency medical, fire protection, and industrial loss control courses for a number of different organizations including the National Fire Protection Association, Society of Fire Protection Engineers, OSHA Training Institute, the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology, Industrial Risk Insurers (IRI), public fire departments, fire training academies, and various other organizations.

Teaching Credentials

-Holds an active teaching certificate in Adult Education while teaching courses for public agencies and institutions.

-Has taught multiple fire protection seminars for NFPA including NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Systems, NFPA 13 Sprinkler Systems, NFPA 20 Fire Pumps, NFPA 25, Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems, and a one-week course on Facility Fire Protection.

-Co-developer and instructor for the SFPE's Advanced Fire AlarmSystem Design seminar.

-Past instructor for OSHA courses in the areas of industrial fire hazard assessment, industrial fire protection, pre-emergency planning, fire brigade organization and management and firefighter safety

David (Dave) Tomecek, P.E.

Background

Dave is a registered Fire Protection Engineer with over 20 years' experience providing a wide range of services to a broad customer base that includes government, industrial, commercial and non-profit clients. His primary business in in the realm of industrial fire protection, hazardous materials, nuclear (non-power) fire hazard analysis and risk-based evaluation.

Teaching Credentials

-Has taught a wide variety of short courses for NFPA and SFPE throughout the U.S.

-Instructor for Introduction to Fire Protection Engineering college level course at Red Rocks Community College.

-Taught Industrial Fire Protection internal training for JENSEN HUGHES staff engineers.

Wayne Moore, P.E.

Background

Wayne is a Principal and Vice President with 43 years' experience. He currently serves as a member and Chairman of the NFPA 72-2013 Emergency Communications Systems (ECS) Technical Committee andis the Editor of the five editions of the National Fire Alarm Code Handbook ®. In December of 2012, NFPA published his new book, "Designing Mass Notification Systems – A Pathway to Effective Communications." He is the 2009 recipient of the NFPA Standards Medal.

Teaching Credentials

-Course instructor for multiple NFPA courses, including NFPA 72.Instructor for many industry short courses, primarily in the area of fire alarm systems, ECS, and mass notification system design.

-Developing a series of courses, including one on Emergency Communications Systems (ECS) for the fire protection program at Oklahoma State University.

Michael (Mike) Crowley, P.E

Background

Mike is a Vice President of Development, focused on Healthcare. His technical experience includes development of fire protection programs for large facilities and proposing solutions for non-compliant items. Mr. Crowley has designed and reviewed automatic sprinkler, Halon and Halon replacement systems for commercial and industrial buildings. He runs egress modeling computer programs and conducts timed exit analyses.

Teaching Credentials

-Frequent speaker on the topics of Code compliance in Healthcare and fire protection engineering in the built environment.

-Instructor for numerous NFPA courses (101, 99, 20 and 92) in the U.S., and Middle East.

Michael (Mike) Ferreira, P.E.

Background

Mike has been primarily involved with smoke management system design and performance-based fire protection engineering projects and has published several articles on the innovative use of computer models for smoke control system design.  He was the lead investigator responsible for evaluating smoke control system performance as part of NIST's investigation of the World Trade Center disaster.  He has also performed performance based smoke movement evaluations for structures such as the Statue of Liberty, Gateway Arch, and U.S. Capitol.  He is a co-author of the ASHRAE Smoke Control Handbook.

Teaching Credentials

-Classroom lecturer for the fire protection engineering programs at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the University of Maryland.

-Instructor for smoke control seminars worldwide, including multi-day courses for industry groups in Spain, Italy, Taiwan.

-Instructor for the NFPA and SFPE smoke control seminars.

William (Bill) Buirch, P.E.

Background

Bill is a Senior Consultant with 31 years' experience in electric utility fire protection. Bill had developed a special perspective to the needs of fire protection and how fire protection integrates into the day-to-day safe operation of the electric utility facilities. This

includes substation and fossil generation support to NSTAR, Baltimore Gas & Electric, PECO, Delmarva Power, and ComEd to name a few. He has also been responsible for the NFPA 805 transition review for nuclear facilities to include Southern Nuclear at Farley Station, Florida Power & Light at Turkey Point, St. Lucie and Duane Arnold, as well as numerous other projects.  He has specialized expertise with regard to electrical transformer fire protection and industrial fire brigade operations.

Leremy Liebowitz, P.E.

Background

Jeremy is the Director of Development for Industrial, Manufacturing and Laboratory markets. He oversees and manages the company's global efforts in industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, high hazard, clean room, hazardous materials and similar occupancies, and provides quality control and technical review for fire protection engineering deliverables and initiatives. Provides Fire Protection Engineering services to clients by applying intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering or building code principles and practices, including life safety code consulting, sprinkler design, fire alarm design, performance-based fire engineering design, risk assessments and hazardous material occupancy compliance.

Teaching Credentials

-Teaching Assistant, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA (2007-2013). Responsible for course instruction, review oftechnical material and grading assignments for chemical engineering and fire protection engineering undergraduate and graduate course work.

-Training instructor for both internal JENSEN HUGHES industrial training courses and industry courses.
