PAEC News:
PAEC Meeting No. 392-01
The meeting was held on Tuesday March, 19, 2019 in the Chemical Engineering Building. It was attended by six (6) Faculty members from the chemical engineering department and four (4) representatives from the process industries. The issues discussed/presented at the meeting included a presentation about the preparation for the ABET re-accreditation visit that was scheduled to take place in November, 2019; updates about the CHET bridging program for the graduates of POLYMER Associate degree was presented and the industrial representatives unanimously recommended that it is important to conduct a review and appraisal of the performance of the bridging students with respect to their counterparts from the CHET major in the areas of core chemical engineering courses. Comprehensive updates about the Pilot plant was presented and discussed; updates about the activities JIC-AIChE student chapter was presented and efforts aimed at encouraging students to enroll for the safety courses offered by the AICHE to students (for free) was highlighted. The representatives from the industries shared encouraging feedbacks about the performance of our graduates in the industry.
PAEC Meeting No. 382-01
On April 3, 2018 the meeting was held and was attended by six members from the academe and five members from the industries. The following were discussed: changes in the AS degree plan and feedback from curriculum development committee; current status and proposed changes in the BS CHET degree plan; JIC 2018 Public Short courses; TPD Website; Alumni Survey; revisions on the Senior Project; Online analyzers; feedback about the pilot plant project; establishment of a data base for more PAEC members; and invitation to participate in the 2018 Chemical Open Day.
PAEC Meeting No. 372-01
The meeting was held on February 28, 2017 and was attended by four members from the academe and four members from the industries. The following were discussed: presentation of the Jubail Research and Innovation ClusterHub (JRICH) and updates on the contracts signed with the industries; proposed revision to the AS CHET curriculum; status of the pilot plant project; placement of COOP trainees; participation of the industry members on the senior project presentations; tour on the CHET laboratories of the new Chemical Engineering Building; and the new SABIC policy on hiring Production Engineers and promotion to Process Engineers.
